Title:  Random thoughts about this and that
Current mood:    contemplative

The IRS ...
I saw a while back that the IRS wants to take our tax form information and sell it to data brokers.
This has to be the height of brass balls.  They take our money for a government which seems to take no regard for how they spend it and now they want to sell our information to some jerk who will bombard us with advertising, unsolicited junk mail for God-knows-what and who knows what else.
Why don't you guys just concentrate on doing a better job of being the IRS?  Catch some of those fat cats who run every scam in the world to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.  Nail some of those big companies who exploit every loophole and maybe even create a few of their own to keep from losing any profits to support the country from which they gain their wealth.

Reggie Bush ...
So the story hits the news that Reggie Bush’s parents lived maybe rent free for a year in a house provided by someone who wanted to be his agent and cash in on the big bucks he would get when he was drafted by the NFL.  And they got loans they haven't repaid.
And when confronted with the questions, Reggie shut his lips tighter than an Ipswitch Clam.
Come on, Reggie, we all know it happened.  Stop being such a coward and own up to the fact you and/or your family capitalized on your athletic ability.  You were just another in a long line of kids with athletic talent that have been given benefits and perks normal people don't get.
Kids who show promise are being showered with all kinds of benefits, gifts and breaks.  They get things that are totally out of proportion to their benefit to society and humanity.  And we allow it.  We even encourage it by turning a blind eye to the circumstances.  Shame on us for allowing it.  And shame on us for being so shocked when the details are revealed.

Tom Cruise ...
Really, Tom, who gives a hoot you have managed to reproduce?
Well, maybe we should.  Such a huge ego freak with some really strange ideas shouldn't be passing on those genes to the future.
And shame on all of us for giving a damn.  Are our own lives so shallow or meaningless we have to obsess over what some strangely functioning celebrity is doing with his life?
Hopefully Katie Holmes is smarter or more stable than Tom.  I heard once intelligence is passed on from the mothers genes.  Maybe that will be true in this case and the kid won't turn out to be warped.  But then you might have to question her intelligence in getting involved with Tom Cruise in the first place.

Anna Niclole Smith ...
Jeeeezzzz.  Just give the Bimbo her money.
Yeah, she may be just another simple little girl with a voluptuous body who married an old man for his money.  But, hell, she gave him some happiness and probably more than that tight-wad, pinch-faced son of his.
$1.6 billion dollars.
Lets just take a look at that spelled out  -- $1,600,000,000.00
Unless you were an unbelievable idiot, or the greatest spendthrift in history that should be enough to keep you in comfort for your whole life.  And if you are actually doing something with that money to make more money (and don't the rich always do that?) then it should be enough for you and some for the Bimbo.
