Title:  Musings on sensuality
Current mood:    contemplative

While I was working on a project tonight the television was on in the background. "Phenomenon" was showing and it got me to thinking. Now I like this movie and am fascinated by the concept of possessing a mind that can comprehend huge amounts of knowledge and develop connections and new things.
But it wasn't the main theme of the movie that caught my attention, but one particular scene. And it got me to thinking about sensuality and sexuality.
Right away three of the most sensual scenes I have seen in film came to mind. Now I have seen my share of erotic films. No one gets to be my age and hasn't had some contact with sensuality and erotica. But the three scenes which came to my mind had nothing to do with nudity or overt sexual action.
So here, for consideration, are the three most sensual scenes I have encountered; the ones that came to mind immediately anyway.
First, the scene in "Phenomenon" where Kyra Sedgewick cuts John Travolta's hair and shaves him. There is not only sensuality here, but real affection and love being demonstrated. Who wouldn’t want to be that close to someone emotionally.
Second, the scene in "Her Alibi" where Paulina Porizkova cuts Tom Sellick's hair. This is just pure sensuality. There is a certain innocence in the scene as well because she seems unaware of the effect she is having on him. And the effect is dramatic, although played for comedy.
The last one is fairly obscure. It comes from a television program which appeared a number of years ago. NBC experimented with presenting a show which contained episodes of three different serials like the ones that used to be shown in movie theaters. One of them concerned a vampire. He, of course, was attracted to the heroine and wanted to woo her away from the hero.
You know the plot. Three bites and she becomes a vampire; the living dead whose soul is damned. The vampire has already bitten her once and she knows the consequences if she is bitten twice more.
He corners her and talks to her. He tells her of his love for her and his desire to be with her forever.
And then, in a gesture of total surrender, she opens the top button of her blouse, pulls the collar aside and exposes the side of her neck to his bite.
It is the most sensual moment I have ever seen on film or television. And there was no nudity involved at
